STEP has completed the technical upgrading of an oxygen plant and built a storage plant for air separation products for Air Liquide in Zelenograd, Moscow Region.

Work was performed at one of the group's subsidiaries in Zelenograd (Air Liquide has had a 75% holding since 2012) which specializes in the production of technical gas - nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen.

The plant's equipment was outdated and no longer met customer requirements. Air Liquide decided to re-equip the plant with state-of-the-art European units and compressors in accordance with its own project. The equipment was replaced without interrupting the plant's operation. After the upgrade, the station's capacity will increase from 80 to 220 tons per day.

This is not the first Air Liquide project that STEP has been involved in. The company previously built an air separation unit at Cherepovets Steel Mill for the joint Severstal JSC enterprise. As Alexei Plaksin, director of STEP's department for the construction of chemical industry facilities, noted, air separation products are primarily required for steel production. In addition, they are used in a number of industries, including electronics, machine building, repair and construction industry, glass manufacturing, food and health care.

Air Liquide Group has been operating in Russia from 1989, when it opened an office for the sale of technical gas production equipment. In 2005, Air Liquide LLC, a Russian subsidiary for the supply of technical gases, was founded. At present, the company operates eleven production sites in key regions of Russia. Air Liquide has invested about 450 million euros in Russia since 2005.
