Preparation for warranty tests is to be started in Kemerovo

At the project for the construction of a nitric acid unit in Kemerovo, all construction and installation work has been completed, individual tests have been carried out.

At the moment, the STEP team and Azot KAO are preparing to conduct warranty tests at the facility.

 “Despite the fact that the construction and installation work was finished in April 2021, we were able to complete the comprehensive testing only by November. The main reason is the complexity of the equipment and the uniqueness of the technology. At the moment, the unit has reached the key performance indicators - 500 tons of 100% nitric acid per day, in accordance with the requirements of the project,” said Dmitry Kalmykov, STEP project director.

As a reminder, STEP implemented a project for the construction of a nitric acid production unit in Kemerovo which is a part of the existing nitric acid plant of Azot KAO. The Customer plans to increase the production of fertilizers, in particular, ammonium nitrate (which requires an increase in the production of nitric acid).

The unit is built on the basis of a unique technology, which was first applied in the CIS. The licensor company is KBR (USA).
